The orange-barred sulfur butterfly has such strikingly beautiful and bold yellow wings that look as if they have been painted with watercolors. It is a butterfly that we see frequently where I live in Pennsylvania and they make me think of sunshine.
The painting is 4x4 inches on Ampersand Gessobord panel. It is painted with fluid acrylics and metallic acrylic ink.
The painting frame is made of black alder and measures approximately 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 3/4 inches. It was handmade in the US. I have hand embellished the edges, using metallic paint/ink to match the metallic square surrounding the butterfly in the painting.
