Original painting in hand embellished frame
A callicore cynosura butterfly has a striking red and black pattern on one side of its delicate wings. It is a butterfly that I have in my specimen collection. I have painted it before because I am so enamored with the brilliance of the red and the fact that the opposite side of its wings look completely different in color and pattern.
The painting is 4x4 inches on Ampersand Gessobord panel. It is painted with fluid acrylics and metallic acrylic ink.
The painting frame is made of black alder and measures approximately 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 3/4 inches. It was handmade in the US. I have hand embellished the edges, using metallic paint/ink to match the metallic square surrounding the butterfly in the painting.
