My art festival season is winding down, with only one show left to go! At A Fair in the Park, I was honored to bring home the Best of Show award. I am so incredibly grateful for this season. One of the many reasons this year is extra special to me is because I am a breast cancer survivor. This time last year, I was bald and doing my best to participate in every festival I had signed up for, despite my rigorous chemotherapy schedule. I remember thinking at many shows how I couldn't wait for "next year" when I would be cancer free and really get to enjoy myself and what I love to do. Looking back now, I realize I have made it and that makes it even sweeter. This year was my comeback tour of sorts, and to be awarded at three festivals surpassed my wildest dreams.
This art festival show season has been off to an amazing start! The summer kicked off with the Three Rivers Art Festival in my hometown of Pittsburgh, where I was given the Festival Award! After a fun week of showing my work to all of my Yinzers, it was off to Chagrin Falls, OH for the Valley Art Center's Art by the Falls. There, I was honored with 1st place in the 2D Category! I am having a lot of fun already and summer has just begun!
This month, I received word that my painting, "Baseball and Peanuts", was one of 150 works chosen to be published in AcrylicWorks 5: Bold Values. The book will be published in May of 2018. So exciting!
